Hello and welcome!
I am a clinical psychologist specialising in the perinatal period, which is the time around pregnancy, birth and the early years of parenthood.
The first 1001 days (from pregnancy to your little one's second birthday) represent a time of extraordinary opportunity. During this time, babies' brains are rapidly developing, forming up to one million neural connections every second. We know that sensitive and secure caregiving can help to shape your baby's brain development, laying lifelong foundations for learning, future mental health, and healthy relationships.
Every parent wants to give their child the best start in life, but this can feel overwhelming. Whilst becoming a parent is often described as one of life's most joyful milestones, the reality can be far messier. It's a time of profound physical, emotional, and social change that can stir up many unexpected feelings. Some parents find themselves revisiting their own childhood experiences, while others may be navigating fertility struggles, a birth that didn't go to plan, a deep sense of identity loss, or other medical challenges that leave them feeling helpless.
Whatever your journey, you don't have to go through it alone. Together, we can explore what this transition means for you and find a way forward.
